I have work work I should be drawing. What do I do instead? A Malificent cat. Though in fairness I took a break from designing cats to design a cat.

Back to work!
EDIT: And another favourite

More of the Princess and Dragon, though for the dragon I'm just finding excuses to use this pen.

Excuse the blog links, you know where you are here, but in this day and age art gets repinned and retumbled all over the place :)

The problem with the world is that there are too many interesting people to draw. Happy New Year everyone! I hope to get to half the things I have planned to do this year. Half would be great :)

Cafe sketching is a very strange art. It allows you to eavesdrop and observe and make your up your own little stories about people. This woman was on (most likely) an internet date and for the first half of the date she was very cold and standoffish. The guy, however, who looked like a real life Luigi, must've said something that peaked her interest because she was all ears for the rest of the night.

Wonder what he said.

I've had a few people ask me about the pencils I use to draw with so I'm making a post dedicated to that.

These are my primary weapon, red ticonderoga pencils. I used to use the carmine red Prismacolours but these are just softer and slide easier along the page. You can find them in almost any office supply store and even Wal-Mart in Canada carries them. I've actually had more trouble locating them in art stores than not.

Usually you can find them in a pack of 12 and they'll last you a good while. My roomate at the time had brought me home a pack once from the Sheridan Bookstore and I haven't looked back since.

Since I'm at it I'll also show you the sketchbook I exclusively draw in.

These guys, for me, are the holy grail of sketchbooks. I have a stock pile of them.

I wasn't joking :) I've been using them since 2007 and despite trying a plethora of other sketchbooks, I keep coming back to these. All mine are the 8x10 format. I suggest you give them a try, especially if you live in the states because as far as I can tell your best bet for getting them is ordering them online at Dick Blick

Cheers everyone! Thanks for the excellent comments so far!

‘Yeah, those were good times.’

It was raining all day :)
